TGIF! How are you all?! Got fun weekend plans? I’m volunteering and hopefully riding in a mountain (or more like trail) bike race this weekend. I’m hoping we get a good turn out.
So, as you all know I live in the country and it takes about 20 minutes to drive into work. I realize that compared to some folks 20 minutes is nothing but I like living within biking distance to work so that I can reduce my carbon footprint and pedal power everywhere. It’s such a great stress reliever and I miss biking. =( I’ve been on the hunt for a better parking spot pretty much since I got my tiny house.
Well, since I live in the country my place to vote was in an area that I hadn’t really been in. I drove to this place from work as I wouldn’t have driven this way from my current parking spot. So on my drive I passed a little blue sign that had a picture of a camper (RV) and an arrow pointing down this road. Of course I had to check it out! After I got my vote on I followed the arrows down the road and found an RV park. ha! Let’s call it a field the size of a football field with about 20 campers! Meaning they were right on top of each other. There maybe were 3-4 little itty bitty trees scattered around. This is NOT my idea of a parking spot. Can you imagine how hot that would be in the summer with the full sun beating down on the camper? No thanks! It was a no-brainer that this would not work for me.
So I drive back to campus (again a way that I normally don’t travel) and see a little tiny sign on the side of the road that said “RV parking for rent” with an arrow pointing down a little gravel road. You know I HAD to check it out.
I drove back the little road and there’s maybe 5 RV’s parked there, a barn/shed building, a tornado shelter (super important!) and a dumpter.
There were also 2, for a lack of better words, tiny houses here as well. I think the sign said “cabins” for rent so maybe they are cabins?
There was 2 parking spot left towards the back of the lot.
The utility hook ups are on the wrong side though so I’m unsure how that would work. If I pulled in the right way this is what the view would be out the front door.
If I pulled into the spot so the house aligns with the utilities this is the view out the front.
I kinda like view #2 a bit better. This spot is outside of city limits but it would only be a 5-10 minute drive to downtown or work. Unfortunately this is not a bike friendly location as the gravel road is off a VERY busy 4 lane 65 mph road and biking would not be safe. There are also no back roads from this location. I’m going to call them today to see on pricing. Stay tuned. This isn’t ideal but maybe a step in the right direction….. what do you think???
