Green Thumb

Hey, hey!  We had a beautiful weekend, weather-wise, this past weekend and I got a ton of stuff done around my house.  I mentioned previously that I was looking for ideas on what to do with the front exterior of the house, as shown here.

Well, a trip to Lowe’s later…I now have a transplanted lemon tree and herbs!

When I bought the lemon tree they told me to transplant it into an 18″ pot and it’ll be good to go.  So, that’s what I did.  I kept going back and forth between a red planter or this black one.  I decided on this black one because A) I liked the shape better and B) I wanted it to match the window box.

In the window box, I planted a basil plant, lemon balm, and…wait for it because I’m excited about this one…kale!  Yay!  I saw it on the shelf with the herbs and thought it would do good here.  It came in a 6 pack and I put all of them in this 36″ long window box, however, after installing this one, I like it so much I’m going to install 2 more under the windows on the “drivers side” (ha!) of the house.

I’m going to put some of the kale from the front window box into the window boxes I install under these side windows.  I may even get crazy and plant another fall veggie in those boxes too.  Stay tuned to see what I plant in those. =)
